Temples were everywhere in Taiwan. Everytime I stepped into one, I felt the need to tiptoe in reverence. Turns out I didn't have to. People would talk to each other in normal volumes, kids would play.
I haven't decided whether this ingrains religion more deeply into their everyday lives, or whether it makes them forget altogether. Or maybe it's all one and the same.
